Light & Shadow

Hi there my friends!
I hope you are having a great - and creative  - week!
I can't express how excited I am about coming weeks - new Creative Team Members, new exotic travels (can you imagine - in the next days I'll be in Reunion, South Africa, and soon in Australia and NZ - wow!) and a lot of things going on backstage...but shhh... this has to be a secret!

Today I've got something a bit unusual for you - it is rare for me to have a chance to share a project which was done during a full -day demo, but I was lucky enough to complete one during SPC show in Salt Lake City - and I was even able to take a photo of it for you!

What I love about the demos is that I have the chance to speak to you directly, show in a couple of minutes how easy it is to be creative and mix, match or simply...glue away! For me, this process is full of joy and I hope my enthusiasm is contagious and I'm able to share it with you and encourage you to try new things!

This collage was my way of playing with whatever we had: I've made some texture pastes using Art Basics  3D Gloss Gel and Art Ingredients Micro Beads, I also glued TONS of my Mechanicals and Sandra's Relics and Artefacts with it.

Of course I couldn't resist and I had to use my new babies: Art Ingredients Opal Magic Mica Powders - beautiful iridescent colours we've just released on the market... I love how beautifully they shine on dark surfaces!

Although it is far from perfection, I had a great time creating it, especially that at the same time I could talk to some of you and explain how the art mediums and ingredients work together.

I hope you will enjoy it - and will get inspired a bit too!

Sending you hugs and hope to see some of you very soon!

Between The Pages

Hello, my Friends!
First of all, I need to make sure you haven't missed yesterday's post with a very special message of mine. :)

Are you having a good Monday? Are you ready for some amazing book art inspiration from our lovely Monika?
We hope you start an artful week with us!

Hi, everyone!
This is my last project for Finnabair Creative Team. I'd like to thank Anna for this wonderful year and for the possibility of creating with such talented individuals. Believe me, you won't find a better Team anywhere. It was an honor and a huge pleasure to be creating for all of you.
Even though this is my last post on this blog, I know that I certainly won't part with Finnabair's products! I simply can't imagine my future art adventures without them. :)

I pondered for a long time what could my last project be. I decided on another art journal spread. Art journaling is my biggest pleasure. I also thought I'd indulge in all my favorite techniques and elements: layers, stamping, metal embelishments and coffee. :)

What makes my piece different from the other ones, is the way I decided to create the layering.
This time I cut out windows in my pages. It took a while but it was worth the effort.

I cut Vintage Vanity collection papers into stripes and that's when the real fun began.
I glued them in between pages and on different heights to create a multi layered, dimensional composition.

My next step was using Grungy Grid stencil with Modeling Paste to create some interesting texture.
When everything dried, I added a thin layer of Heavy White Gesso and let it dry too.

Then it was time to splash some coffee and use my favorite stamps: I reached for words from Dream On, Never Too Late, Trust the Magic and Don't Forget To Fly sets + a touch of Adverts stamp here and there.

I glued a vintage cabinet card - I can't resist them, they are so beautiful and keep fascinating me.
And my cherry on top - fantastic Mechanicals that I love! I glued them in between my layers using 3D Matte Gel. This simple step made my composition more varied and added some interest.

I hope you like my idea how to create some nice layering.
Thank you for looking and I hope to see you out there in the blogland. ;)
Hugs
Monika

Never A Goodbye

My Friends...
I can't believe it's been a year already! It seems impossible that time passed so fast: just a moment ago we were sending first boxes to my first ever Creative Team, a bunch of wonderful, talented creative individuals from all over the world.
I can remember the first pojects, full excitement and great energy which has always been present in our group.
Brainstorming and having fun together. Lots of ideas, support and friendship.
It was an amazing year and a lot of things happened: tons of inspiring tutorials, beautiful projects, challenges and publications.
We really had the best time together... and for this and many other reasons I'll be missing my Creative Team Members every day.
I'd like to thank them all for all the support, hard work, great projects and all the friendship and warm thoughts I received from them.
You were all appreciated... because of you this blog turned into a great source of mixed-media inspiration. Thank you for all the help and giving me a lot of reasons to smile.
Your contribution to this place made a huge change . Thank you so much and lots of love.

You know by now that my Creative Team has changed and last week we welcomed beautiful new artists.
Today I'd like to invite you on a sentimental journey with me. Let's revisit some of the incredible and inspiring art pieces from my Teamies.

This September we are parting with Elena, Monika, Rebecca and Riikka {click on the names! - the link will take you to all their amazing projects created for our Team}
Do you remember...? :)

But hey, let us not forget about two previous Team Members! Do you remember wonderful Carole and Elena?

Can you see now why I'm so moved and grateful?
This has been a true priviledge. Thank you, Ladies!!
And this certainly is not a goodbye. ;)
